I’d imagine that we’ll continue to see updates for the game that will smooth these small issues out and bring it full-circle. What It Could Have Done BetterĪs I stated above, there are small issues with framerates being unstable as well as texture and enemy pop-in. Its small hiccups can easily be patched, making this the best way to play for sure.

Replayabilityīecause of its new visual upgrade and smoother framerate during combat, Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition definitely has the attractiveness to garner more playthroughs. These issues aren’t huge and will most likely get patched in the near future but it stinks that they’re even present. This happens often and I even would see enemies drop from the sky or pop in very often. There’s a real issue with texture pop-in that also wasn’t present in the original version. The draw-distance in the background and the detail on the shell, however, is definitely better on the Series S version.Īnother issue you may spot is in the Series S photo is located at the fallen tree to the left. To me at least, the superior textures for those are on the PS4.

Just look at the rocks on the left of both photos and the dirt beneath the character’s feet. Even though there is for sure more detail throughout the game, there are spots where it seems to look a little muddier than before.

Unfortunately, I did find some things that feel like a backtrack. Even the Foundling himself has gotten a bit of a makeover with more detail displayed about his bone-like skin. Like most of everything else, the shell’s armor is heavily detailed and more beautiful to look at than before. In Mortal Shell’s case, the Enhanced Edition offers a fantastic new 4k resolution that really highlights the fantastic look and feel of Fall Grim and its inhabitants. New PS5, PS4 Games This Week (12th September to 18th Sept. However, the game still struggles with item and texture pop-in at times, and there are some instances of the game crashing.

Additionally, the upgrade also boasts 4K support, upgraded textures, and much faster loading times. Instead of running at 30 frames-per-second on the PS4 and PS4 Pro, the PS5 version runs at a smooth 60 frames-per-second, something fans of Souls-like games will immediately notice and appreciate during combat.

One of the biggest draws of the Enhanced Edition of Mortal Shell comes in the game’s performance. Now, after six months, Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition aims to bring the game to the PS5 bigger and better than ever. As The Foundling, your goal is to defeat The Unchained and the many difficult bosses in your way, all while inhabiting new shells and upgrades to change and upgrade your playstyle. In an era where Souls-like games have become increasingly popular, Mortal Shell on PlayStation 4 gained a cult following for its expansive world and dedication to its Dark Souls roots.
